From Barn to Table: The Unlikley Story of Barndoor Games
Before we fed the pigs and milked the cows, we threw on our overalls and thought…we should make a board game company!
That is exactly how it DIDN’T happen. In fact, we don’t own any farms (although we were dairy farmers for a time!).
How the name “Barndoor” originated is quite a humorous and simple story. Come, sit down, enjoy a cup of tea and read the evolution of the name.
My name is Brandon, first of all.
Brandon. Barndon. Barndor. Barndoor.
Hilarious, right?
One day, a long-time friend accidentally mispronounced my name “Barndoor” and it kind of stuck. It was just another silly nickname in the books. Fast forward, my wife and I, Angelina, were thinking of a name for our board game company and this old nickname rang in my head. I thought “There’s no way I could use this name, it sounds ridiculous!” It was more of a funny thought, but over time it became less and less of a joke and more and more of a serious consideration. I ran it by my friends and family and everyone loved it. So it stuck!
We also really liked the family-oriented culture of the rustic, farm life, so we centered our games around that approach. Barndoor Games’ mission is to bring families closer together with games and memories that both kids and adults enjoy.
